It’s not everyday you hear bagpipes in the mountains, however on this particular day I was fortunate enough to be hiking with a fellow who decided he wanted to carry his bagpipes along for the hike.
“I really want to play on the summit of Mt. Washington” he told me before we started hiking.
“If you want to carry them, go for it!” I responded with a smile.
While our evening was coming to a close and the sun was setting along the western sky I heard the sound of bag pipes being tuned. He played for about 20 minuets, only stoping to introduce the next tune he would play. After he was finished playing his energy was ecstatic! This man truly loved playing the bagpipe and to play on top of a mountain in New Hampshire was surly the high point of his trip.
